How long have we been complaining about having to hold our noses when we voted for McCain in 2008? How many times has it been said in countless blogs, posts on facebook, pundits on television, radio hosts, etc., that McCain was a lousy choice that the establishment Republicans shoved down our throats?

And what does Romney do? Accept the endorsement of McCain!!! That move right there I believe will sink his candidacy. Not that he was my choice to begin with, but now he is definitely off the radar.

What I find amazing is how the so-called conservative candidates, the media and many posters throughout the internet are pointing fingers at the liberal support coming out for Ron Paul. So the libs can appreciate the constitutionality of a candidate more than conservatives?

That strikes me as the ultimate case of hypocrisy.

The Buffett Tax Mentality

We've all heard Warren Buffett complain (or brag) that he pays a lower tax rate than his secretary.

Now, I'm betting that his secretary is making at least $200,000. Which is enough to ensure she (or he, not to be sexist) can expect to pay even more if Obama's "Buffett Tax" goes into effect!

"Thanks boss!"

Maybe Buffet is feeling a tad bit guilty after his $5 billion investment in Goldman Sachs, I just hope he thanked the taxpayers for propping his investment up long enough for him to clear his multi-million dollar windfall.

But let's think about this "paying your fair share" approach our President and many others take in regards to pushing the wealth envy warfare:

A) What do you get for the taxes you pay? The government's responsibility is to protect us from attack, guard our borders. They do a lot more than that, but that is basically the federal governments constitutional responsibility.

B) What more would the rich get for paying more? Would they be protected more? Protecting the borders protects all of us.

So my question is, what would the rich get for their money if they paid more? They already pay more in dollars for the same benefits.

How is that fair? That is what they would think. Many are contemplating a "Going Galt" approach if they can. But many in the bullseye of this new tax, are small business owners who are stuck with big loans for buildings, equipment, possibly union contracts. They are stuck. But they have options.

So ask yourself this: have you ever worked for a poor person? Would you want to? Don't you think your boss is going to cut expenses SOMEWHERE to make up for this increase in taxes? There is no benefit to him/her to pay more to the Federal Government.

And then there's the regulation avalanche.... that's a discussion for another day.

Yes I'm back! It's 2012, another volatile election ahead of us so my resolution has been to share information, educate where I can and learn from you.

So let's get started.

Santorum has stated he would bomb Iran. What would happen if we did that? The muslim nations in the area have not always seen eye to eye with Iran but wouldn't they dislike that type of action even more than they dislike Iran? What about Russia and China? They both have a lot invest in the area.

Another item for discussion is the "social host" laws that are growing in more and more states. Even if you had no idea the kids in your house are drinking you can be hauled off to jail.

Here's my problem with that: what if it's your kid. Do you not have the right to decide it's ok for your kid to drink as long as they do so in your home and not out on the streets? Many parents tell their kids "if you are going to drink, do it here". Knowing they will drink with or without their permission, at least they are safe at home. With these laws however, they could go to jail.

Irrelevancy of Congress and the Supreme Court

The President doesn't like Congress failing to pass his Cap & Trade bill (or something similar) so he just gives the power to the EPA instead.

He doesn't like the supreme court's ruling on campaign finance so says he'll take care of it himself.

Feigns disapproval of Congress insisting on spending cuts before passing a Continuing Resolution but when we look closer to the details, what did he really cut? Nothing!

Debt ceiling has come and gone and yet he's still spending, just getting his cash from the Federal Reserve.

It's been over 60 days since he gained approval from the UN instead of Congress to begin military actions in Libya. According to the War Powers Act, he should be asking Congress for permission and funds to continue. Says he does not need Congressional approval. Or course this has been a move by previous presidents, so what kind of a precedent is Congress continuing here?

When is Boehner and the rest going to stand up, find their balls and say ENOUGH????

Or will they wait till the next election kicks yet another major portion of the establishment politicians out of office?

As I've said, new is not necessarily better. Yes Mubarak and Gaddafi were bad evil men. But are the people of Egypt and Libya any better off with their replacements? Israel is wondering the same thing.

In the case of the Libyan rebels here's a shocker: some are al Qaeda!!! Gee, and I thought there were only a handful of AQ left! Or so the left and Doc would have us believe. Although, I do have to ask, since when did AQ keep a membership roster so we'd know how many there were?????

Even though Libya only supplies about 2% of the worlds oil and almost nothing directly to the US, many critics will claim this is yet again a war for oil.

Tunisia? That's only 260,000 barrels A YEAR!!! That's nothing.

So, again, why Libya? Maybe there really is something to this United Nations "Responsibility To Protect" Doctrine. I may have more on that later.

Sounds like they thought more like Jefferson Davis! Most people think southerners of the time (and now) were stupid uneducated buffoons. And they think the Civil war was all about race. Little do they know that Lincoln said if he could have held the union together by keeping slavery, he would have done so.

Failure of the United States Senate

United States Senate has invalidated it's own mission and ignored it's own history. Originally chosen by the individual states legislatures, they were sent to Washington as a representative of their state. Now, we have direct vote and the senators now listen more to the lobbyists and special interest groups.

They have become nothing more than an extension of the House, going along with whatever party is in control in the Senate and ignoring the needs and limitations of their state. Forget whether their state can handle the mandates established by Washington. States are no longer represented.

This was designed to keep Congress from passing too many bills and constantly "transforming" our republic. Legislation was never intended to be easy. It was MEANT to be a hard job to get bills, regulations through. That way, only those issues that truly represented the overwhelming good of the republic would pass. And that does not mean 51%!!!

Harry Reid, you have NO RIGHT to block any vote.

2010 was without a doubt, a roller-coaster.

We started and ended 2010 with record cold temps. All in the name of man caused global warming?

People are actually talking about the constitution! In regular every day discussions. Awesome in my opinion.

Joe Wilson got a smack down for pointing out the obvious: YOU LIE.

We had everyone from Matthews to Maher saying it's ok for the Prez to lie, cheat or use what ever means necessary to push his agenda!!! How's THAT for great media work?

We had the Massachusetts Miracle which many of us are now asking "what just happened?". Have to stay alert folks, we are still fooling ourselves.

While the Supreme Court ruling on the First Amendment this year has allowed more corporate influx of cash into the voting schemes, too many folks are neglecting to realize that in the long run, this was a very good thing for freedom. It may be the one thing that keeps this administration from enacting any version of the Fairness Doctrine and will be used when the next congress brings the FCC up on it's overbearing net neutrality actions.

If you listened to the lame stream media, man made global warming and our secret weapons systems have been responsible for every "natural" disaster this year. Haiti to volcano eruptions. Yep, we did it.

Mid-Term elections. Most ill-fated quote: Obama - "Well, the big difference here and in '94 was you've got me". Best part of the mid-terms? Tea Party.

LW: As of 9/21 you are still the only candidate to sign the No Pork Pledge. However, some would argue that part of a Senator’s job is to attract jobs and business to their state. What is your plan for increasing jobs availability, and enabling businesses to do what they do best in Georgia?

CDonovan: First of all, Pork is not a way of bringing jobs or prosperity into the State. It might appear to be a winning deal when money comes in from Washington, but that overlooks two things. First some of that money comes from other States. There is no reason why taxpayers in Kansas for example, should pay for a project in Georgia, especially after their money passes through Washington. Secondly and more importantly, Federal money also comes from Georgians.

The current game is the Federal government plunders the states and heaps the money up in Washington, D.C. Then Senators, Representatives, and Governors fight their way to the money and return to their electorate displaying what they got for us. They didn’t get anything. They got back only some of what was plundered from us after the Federal government took its cut. Even worse, the money comes back to the state with a big Federal string attached.

This has to stop, and I am drawing the line. The Federal government has nothing it hasn’t taken from others. It is time the states kept their production and made their own economic decisions. There is no authorization for earmarks or Pork in the Constitution and it is about time the practice stopped.

Pork, subsidies, stimulus and bailouts pick winners and losers in the economy. It is not government’s job to pick the winners and losers. Government is supposed to be making the United States the most business friendly country in the world, and by doing so we will expand prosperity in an economically sustainable way.

LW: I’ve been seeing ads on TV from Ontario, Canada enticing business to relocate there due to their tax structure. Of all things, Canada is now becoming a tax haven!! What would you do to enable business to stay here? How can we stop the loss of business from American shores?

CDonovan: As long as our government continues to pick the winners and losers via special deals, special interest tax breaks, subsidy, stimulus, bailouts and intervention, entrepreneurs who lose in the deal will look for another place to do business. In addition, every business in America has to run a gauntlet of regulations. A small businessman recently told me he is not afraid of competition. His main fear is the EPA, OSHA, the IRS, and the Georgia Department of Revenue.

We have to concentrate on making the United States the most business friendly country in the world. Simplified tax law, tort reform, reduced regulations, and most importantly a better understanding among Americans about what an honestly free market would look like, would all stop the loss of American businesses and jobs.
To begin with, we should eliminate the EPA, OSHA, FDA, FCC, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Commerce. We have to shrink the tax code to less than 100 pages, and we have to bring the highest corporate tax rate in the developed world down from 35% to 25% or less.

LW: What are your three top priorities for action in the Senate and what do you see as your main impediment to accomplishing these priorities.

CDonovan: My top three priorities are to: 1. Cut “discretionary” and “mandatory” spending2. Shrink the size and scope of government 3. Stop inflation

There are two main impediments to achieving these priorities. The first is the lack of leadership in Washington, D.C. coupled with a lack of understanding as to the magnitude of these problems. The second impediment is the misunderstanding by Americans about what government is, and what it should be doing. To paraphrase Orwell, the “proles” have realized how powerful they are, but they are choosing to use that power to expand, government instead of shrinking it.

LW: Federal Reserve – audit or eliminate?

CDonovan: The Fed is the blank check written on the backs of working Americans and working American businesses. It is the source of our bubble economy. It is at the heart of the current housing crisis. There is no other government function that has failed so completely. The Fed was supposed to smooth out the economy and eliminate bubbles. There have been about 63 bubbles since its inception; all caused by the fake credit the Fed pumps into the economy. The Fed was supposed to stabilize the Dollar, but the Dollar is now worth about 5 cents compared to what it was worth when the Fed was put in place, and the Dollar continues to decline in buying power.

Auditing the Fed is not enough. Listen closely to those in favor of the audit. Most of them are just looking to change the management of the Fed.

If there was only one thing I was allowed to change in the Federal government, I will immediately, totally, and forever eliminate the Federal Reserve Bank and all centralized banking from our government.

LW: Talk to us some more about your idea of eliminating the “Certificate of Need” for medical facilities. For those who don’t know, also explain what those are.

CDonovan: The Certificate of Need (CON) is issued by a federal or state regulatory agencies to ensure planned medical facilities are required to fulfill the needs of a community. So, the government decides if a medical facility should actually be built. The decision is not in the hands of entrepreneurs in the health care industry. In this arrangement, government and the medical cartels connected to the government are the winners, and patients and health care consumers are the losers. Supply is restricted and prices increase as a result.

Through the CON, the government imposes a one-size-fits-all approach to medical care, saying that it is applying a consistent standard to hospitals in all states. It sounds good when stated that way however, it amounts to centralized control. Two things are consistent. One, centralized control increases government power not consumer power. It allows the government to pick winners and losers in health care, both on the provider side and the patient side. Second, centralized control drives up prices.

Increased prices are the last thing we need in health care. There is no other sector of the economy that has consistently grown in price faster that inflation.

We are stifling the health care industry and driving up prices with all this government interference. Instead we have to open up opportunity for innovation and competition. If you really care about people in need, you will release the medical industry from the control of centralized government. Abolishing the CON is a step in the correct direction.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned Arizona’s requirement that people show proof of citizenship to register to vote.

The split decision by a three-judge panel determined that the requirement to show proof of citizenship — passed by voters in 2004 — is not consistent with the National Voter Registration Act.

But at least this was AFTER the registration deadline passed. So the only problem is if you go to vote and they tell you that you have ALREADY voted!

HEAVEN AND HELL

While walking down the street one day a Corrupt Senator was tragically

hit by a car and died. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems

there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts,

you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," says the Senator.

"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from the higher ups. What we'll

do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can

choose where to spend eternity."

"Really?, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the

Senator.

"I'm sorry, but we have our rules."

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down,

down, down to hell.

The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf

course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his

friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him,

shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while

getting rich at the expense of the people. They played a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes.

They are all having such a good time that before the Senator realizes

it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator

rises.

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens in heaven where St.

Peter is waiting for him, "Now it's time to visit heaven...”

Did you ever think insurance would become such a high priority subject in our lives? Who does not talk about "Obamacare" or "insurance mandates" these days?

Well we have a race in Georgia with NO incumbent! So pay attention.

Our Libertarian pick is Shane Bruce and here is my "bloggerview" with him:

LW: Health Insurance is probably the biggest subject discussed in any of your interviews. About the only question I can’t find is: would you support across the state line competition?

SBruce: Of course. I’d support buying insurance across national boundaries if I thought the contract was enforceable. There are a number of impediments standing in the way of purchasing coverage across state lines, most of which are barriers erected by our legislature to preserve the profit margins of the insurance companies domiciled here in Georgia. Did you know we have a “Retaliatory Tax” built into our system to make sure that an economic advantage an insurance provider in another state may enjoy due to lower taxes is wiped out by requiring the company to pay the highest rate from either state.

LW: Hmmmm can we say "Atlas Shrugged" anyone?

LW: Explain to the less educated among us the relationship between the commissioner and underwriters. Would you have any influence with them? Their purpose and “power” has always confused me (please tell me I’m not the only one).

SBruce: The main gig at the Commissioner’s Office is to regulate the practices of companies that sell insurance in Georgia. Those practices have to comply with Georgia Code and it is the job of the Commissioner to ensure that they do. Ideally, the Commissioner should be an impartial judge, uninfluenced by those he regulates. In reality, the office of Commissioner has been used by past administrations to sock away campaign cash in exchange for “favors”. If elected, that will not happen on my watch.

LW: You’ve said one of your goals would be to drag it (commissioner’s office) kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Would that include digitizing our personal health records? Many of us say UGH no!

SBruce: I am a Libertarian. I concur with your apprehension about digitizing medical records and making them available across the hugely integrated data networks that serve the health care infrastructure. Keep in mind that the Office of the Commissioner does not handle health records, just records of insurance providers, complaints by consumers and a host of other data points to comply with the Georgia Code. That needs to be modernized. I am also in favor of decentralizing the office from one location in Atlanta to as many a 6 regional offices through out the state. The entire state pays for the Office, mayhap some regional offices would provide a better level of service, not to mention bringing some stable jobs to distressed areas.

LW: See, I AM getting an education.

LW: I have to take you back in time to when you first filed your intent and the battle that ensued over party designation. You said: “I call on the head of the State Ethics Commission to change this process to allow third party candidates to be listed by their political affiliation instead of lumping all of us together under the generic, mundane and boring label of “other party”. I’ll be on the ballot this fall as a Libertarian, not as a member of some “other party”. This is a simple request with a simple solution, responding with “That’s the way we do it” ain’t gonna get it. If you’re not able to to make this simple administrative change, I want to know why.” My question is, can we count on this same fire and determination in all your efforts on behalf of Georgians?

SBruce: Certainly. Hopefully with better results than my o-so-brief run in with the State Ethics Commission. They stood by their flawed decision and I was not able to move them. It was a stark lesson in governmental relations for me, I had no champion in government to make my case so the bureaucracy won with disdain. If elected, I will not allow that to happen to Georgia citizens with a complaint over insurance matters.

LW: Industrial Small Loans, or Payday loans as some call it. From a free market perspective, how do you keep them performing their service and yet protect (as some would have government do) Georgia’s citizens from the more unscrupulous lenders.

SBruce: The solution to Georgia’s Pay Day Loan operators can be found in a program running successfully in North Carolina where one the state’s Credit Unions starting offering short term (2 weeks) small cap loans ($500 or less) at 12% interest rates. That Credit Union now has a majority of the market share in that kind of lending in North Carolina and it is big business with a percentage of the loan deposited into the borrower’s credit union savings account. I would like to see similar competition here in Georgia to provide another choice for our hard pressed citizenry in these horrendous economic times.

LW: That's certainly better than the 25% title loans here!!

LW: Would you support a 10^th amendment style nullification of Obamacare.

SBruce: I’m pleased that the court challenge has passed phase 1. The 10^th amendment is the 10^th amendment and certainly outlined the do’s and don’ts. The real question is, would a republican or democrat state house have the courage to use it?

LW: Let’s set the record straight on the premium tax, is it $6 million or $600??? And how does that work?

SBruce: The number for 2006 was $630,000,000. In suspect it’s a little less in 2010 due to less business. Here’s a link to the report by Georgia State University on the arcane nature of the tax and how’s it’s split between the general fund and various and sundry municipalities in Georgia. It is astonishing that the city of Waycross or Lilburn or Hahira and others can elect to help themselves to your insurance payment courtesy of the state.

As a libertarian, I have been trying to get the word out on candidates running for local office. I've been very pleased there are so many this election cycle. And very high quality candidates at that!

LW We've all seen how throwing money at education nets us zero result in increased test scores and ss someone with an education background and a libertarian, what do you plan to do in order to A) improve education in Georgia and B) keep the costs down?

TBryant Money is not the answer. We just received $16.7 million from the "race to the top" fiasco for the next four years. Sounds great, right? That is only $126 per student per year. Many programs will be started with this money, and then it will dry up, leaving unfunded programs four years later.

We are top heavy in administration, paying millions in salary for personnel with no direct contact or advantage to children. We are wasting resources in an antiquated bidding process fraught with corruption. Taxes are rising, class sizes are exploding, and all the BOE can discuss is who is going to get a new gym or stadium. I understand strong athletics can get our kids to colleges, but I'd rather them not fail when they show up there.

I have plans to replace school buses with ones that will operate on natural gas provided at no cost by the local landfill. This would be a joint effort with the city to defray start up costs. As a side effect, we would reduce the diesel particulate emissions keeping Augusta free of EPA sanctions. We would still use diesel buses for field trips out of town, keeping a mixed fleet. Studies show within 5 years we could save $6 million dollars, eliminating the need for half of our furlough days.

LW: Citizens of Georgia and the nation have all either suffered setbacks in salaries, outright loss of jobs or have family members in that situation. Will you ask the same of state law makers in their attempts to play to special interest groups with their hands out?

TBryant: Special interest do not outnumber the individual of Richmond County, and it's about time people around here start recognizing that. The problem is that most people turn a blind eye to such transactions, thinking there is no stopping them. I will always default to my libertarian position of taxpayer and citizen protection.

LW: An issue of increasing interest in the Augusta area is the "Nuisance Ordinance". Do you view this as a means to clean up Augusta or as an assault on personal property rights? Is there a balance to be found?

TBryant: I have spoken to Butch Palmer and Lori Davis in the beginning about the CNPO, advising them that the constitutionality may be in question, and was ignored mostly. I was not surprised that it was struck down. I don't think what they are asking is out of the question and is tantamount to proper landlord responsibility. I think a licensing agreement per residence with the city would be a proper compromise.

LW: How would you implement a transparent and responsible government?

TBryant: The short answer, I'm a blabbermouth! Unfortunately, I am only one vote on a panel of ten. Citizen involvement is also key. I would like to start a "parent union" to try to get parents involved. Think of a system wide PTA, with parents from all different schools getting together sharing ideas and solutions. I cannot do this alone!

LW: JOBS is Job One, I think you would agree. What are your plans and mostly importantly what would be your time table to accomplish?

TBryant: Vocational training is the way to go with getting more industry into the CSRA. This has worked in Greenville, SC and my hometown of North Charleston, SC. An aircraft plant broke ground there bringing 6,000 jobs with it. We have the cheap real estate and a willing local government. We are missing a tax break structure and skilled employees. I can help with one out of two.

Augusta gets most of it's jobs from the taxpayers. We, as libertarians, know this is a perfect example of Bastiat's "Broken Window Fallacy." Private organizations have to start setting up shop or we are in trouble.

LW: So there you have it Georgia. 19 days, what are you going to do?

This government started out with the right idea, mix of power between the president and the parliament. Where they went wrong was giving the president the power to dismiss the cabinet, dissolve the Reichstag, and veto legislation.

This government was not totally accepted by the populace at large and very severe political battles and unlikely alliances plagued it's entire existence. The extreme right worked with the Communist party (KPD) towards its destruction. The VersaillesTreaty laid the groundwork for it's demise. It never stood a chance.

All this infighting resulted in nothing getting accomplished to help stabilize what was in effect a new nation. Violence was rampant and many do not know but it was at this time Youth paramilitary groups came into existence. There were as many as five different political parties with no one gaining enough support to take control. Multiple coup d'état usually ending in defeat, some for as simple a reason as a general strike!!!

The republic was falling more and more behind on it's reparations payments as stipulated in the treaty. There were incursions by French and Belgian troops trying to collect their payments. The government response? They halted all industrial activity! A nation already burdened with high unemployment and now industry at a standstill.

There were indeed wheelbarrows of cash needed for purchases of food items. What jobs there were, paid employees twice a day in cash, so the workers could run make their purchases before the prices went even farther up.

Chancellor Stresemann formed a new coalition and somehow managed to gain cooperation between the different factions, although limited. The economy began a short lived recovery. Short only because of the depression and the Wall Street crash. Loans were re-called which Germany could not pay. The easing unemployment once again skyrocketed.

Were it not for the Great Depression, Hitler may not have found an opportunity (or a crisis to take advantage of) to come to power.

Before I came to Cincinnati, I was a news reporter at WOC in Davenport Iowa. I covered a lot of city council and a lot of political stuff. One of the guys I covered was Ed Mezvinsky, who was the Congressman from Iowa's first district. Seemed like a pretty nice guy, but when he ditched his wife for a New York reporter, the Iowa voters ditched him.

My most vivid memory is that he sat on the House Judiciary Committee that was deciding the fate of President Nixon. Anyway, years later, "Fast Eddie" got caught with his hand in the till. He cheated investors out of more than $10 million dollars. He has gone to prison for several years.

This weekend, his son married Chelsea Clinton.

Ran across this in an investment email newsletter I get:

So George Soros is now also making money from China! And Petrobras will be making HUGE money from China. Guess that's why Petrobras has been greedily buying up all the idle oil drilling platforms they can find. When Obama put the moratorium into place they were negotiating for all those put in limbo in the Gulf. Luckily a judge ruled against him, so we may save those.

Funny thing about those platforms. They cost millions just to let sit. So the owners will move them elsewhere. Once they are moved you can bet they won't come back anytime soon. Those would have been permanently lost jobs if the President had won. I'm sure it's not over yet.

And now, BP has been instructed that before they sell any significant assets they have to clear it with Washington first? Ok, BP should be made to pay for this disaster, but they may just need to sell off some assets to finance these claims. How can Washington think they have this authority? And where does it stop?

The progressives are not anything if not creative in their nomenclature. What could be more peaceful and reassuring than a free press right?

In this day of focus groups, closing one door only to open another under another guise, we find Free Press, a media advocacy group has won the prize for deflecting negative attention by using a name that just gives you the warm fuzzies.

They are also at the center of the net neutrality efforts.

Our Purpose

Media play a huge role in our lives. TV, radio, the Internet, movies, books and newspapers inform and influence our ideas, opinions, values and beliefs. They shape our understanding of the world and give us the information we need to hold our leaders accountable. But our media system is failing.

This failure isn't natural. For far too long, corrupt media policy has been made behind closed doors in the public's name but without our informed consent. If we want better media, we need better media policies. If we want better policies, we must engage more people in policy debates and demand better media.

Basically they would have more government involvement, reduce the availability of news source to a "local" level and remove capitalist competition including rights to intellectual property. That's music, movies, books etc., to the likes of you and me.

People say what's wrong with that? Even Rick Carnes of the Huffington Post has a problem with that:

As this Times article relates, the parents and earlier generations are being blamed. Will our children and grandchildren react this way after we allow our government to destroy and "transform" America? Could be. Something to think about.

Citizens are not all willing to do that. Would Americans be willing to having to make across the board concessions?

Would U.S. government employees be willing to take a cut? Would social security recipients be willing to take a cut? When was the last time any of you got a raise? Why is it only the average worker that is currently making concessions?

In Greece public sector workers can retire as early as 45 with paid benefits and retirement pay. Many Greek workers are paid 14 months salary.

How long did they think the system could support this kind of overly generous compensation?

Very disturbing especially when combined with the continuing attempt for "net neutrality". No it's not dead, even after Comcast's victory, the "behind the scenes administration" is still trying to find a way around this.

They want to shut us up. Even if you don't agree with everything Glenn Beck says, he has been accused of sedition! This is too much. Dissent is American. Unless it is against this administration.

I'm not a fan of Bush, but even during the most vocal of criticism, days and weeks of Cindy Sheehan sitting outside his ranch, this former president only said "they have the right". That at least, was classy.

Our current administration however, seeks to prevent regular Americans from hearing other opinions, point out their hypocrisy, advise them of outright unethical if not illegal activities by members of his staff. On his behalf. We certainly can't count on the media to advise us of these activities, for the most part they are still in love with Obama and refuse to DO THEIR JOB!

After all, what was the original intent of the First Amendment:

This list is of past winners of the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting. Some very interesting stories yes and worthy of investigation. But where is the next "Deep Throat"? Any story higher than an FBI level? Surely, there are stories to be had; is there a direct connection between ACORN and Obama? Did Ayers write Obama's memoirs? Just how much influence did he have on our President? Is there an agenda to take America into the World Order? Why did Soros' organization pay back the million dollars embezzled by a co-founder of ACORN?

Where there is smoke, there is fire.

If we as citizens and the media as investigators do not avail ourselves of our rights under the First Amendment, we stand to lose those rights.

I am a registered libertarian but also a realist in the world of politics. I realize the Republican party has the machine in place (for now) to get the job done IF, and thats a big if, they can recover their base.

Been saying for some time now that the politicians in Washington with a "R" after their names are not real republicans, that the original party platform has been corrupted. If they could kick out the RINOs and install small government conservatives, they had the best chance of helping to kick out the progressives from Washington.

Seems there is a move in this very direction! Texas Senator Dan Patrick has been making the rounds of all the talk shows that he can fit into this schedule with a movement that has been catching nation wide attention. He gets calls every day from legislators from other states interested in doing the same in their states. This website gets 40,000 hits a day. Check them out, you will be hearing more about this.

Yep I heard it, Thursday night. Glenn Beck was discussing cuts in the military defense budget. We need to quit "policing the world". He said he was becoming more libertarian in his views, not quite a Ron Paul but getting there.

How about that?

He is all for pulling our troops home, cutting all foreign aid and telling the world you are on your own just dont mess with us!
