Clinton reversing stand on Small Arms Ban Treaty
Many, including me, have been warning of this possibly coming through soon. Looks like while we were all involved in the big oil spill, our Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was busy seeing how she and Obama could pull a fast one on our Second Amendment rights.

This is not a done deal but is getting too close for comfort.

Another case of Federal Government gone mad. We have a flood across our southern border and they want to bully a family farm into selling their property dirt cheap so a multimillion dollar facility can be built at a crossing of maybe 3 vehicles an hour.

Ran across this by accident. The writer is talking about George Bush but if you look at the ten steps I swear she is even more talking about Obama! Bush may have started it with the Patriot Act but the Big O is carrying it over the cliff:

Free Press and Net Neutrality
The progressives are not anything if not creative in their nomenclature. What could be more peaceful and reassuring than a free press right?
In this day of focus groups, closing one door only to open another under another guise, we find Free Press, a media advocacy group has won the prize for deflecting negative attention by using a name that just gives you the warm fuzzies.
They are also at the center of the net neutrality efforts.
People say what's wrong with that? Even Rick Carnes of the Huffington Post has a problem with that:
"The bottom line is that Free Press is pretty explicit in their desire to wipe out every significant media business - news, movies, music, cable and telecommunications - and replace them with some sort of government facsimile, all to further McChesney's abstract revolutionary vision. They say they are for a free press and independent media, but how free and independent can media be when the government is paying the bills. As a longtime advocate of freedom of speech and expression in creative works, I worry greatly about the government becoming too involved in the information, media and creative industries. Don't you?"
Too much ado about nothing? Maybe. But I like to know the players and Robert McChesney, co-founder of Free Press is quite the character:
"There is no real answer, but to remove, brick by brick, the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles."
That is his plan. In an interview he gives a little insite into how this has been an ongoing plan with the left: “What should we do about the problem of the media?” There was a traditional Left response available at the time: “we understand that the media is not separate from, but an integral part of how capitalist power is upheld in society; when we make the revolution or the revolution just happens, the problem of the media will be resolved then.”
Not if but when the revolution happens.

Our Purpose
Media play a huge role in our lives. TV, radio, the Internet, movies, books and newspapers inform and influence our ideas, opinions, values and beliefs. They shape our understanding of the world and give us the information we need to hold our leaders accountable. But our media system is failing.

Barack Obama was visiting a primary school and he stopped by one of the classes. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings.
The teacher asked the president if he would like to lead the discussion on the word 'tragedy', so our illustrious president asked the class for an example of a 'tragedy'.
One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be a tragedy."
"No,' said Obama, 'that would be an accident."
A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy."
"I'm afraid not,' explained Obama. 'That's what we would call great loss."
The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Obama searched the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?"
Finally, at the back of the room, Little Johnny raised his hand. In a quiet voice he said: "If the plane carrying you and Mrs. Obama was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy."
"Fantastic!' exclaimed Obama. 'That's right. And can you tell me why that would be tragedy?"

A Libertarian Defense of the Arizona Bill
Most libertarians are coming out against the Arizona bill. I have been saying we have to observe the rule of law and it is illegal for immigrants to come here without going through a proper procedure. We have the right to know that new people are not running from the law, carrying drugs, or on some terrorist watch list. We welcome those who want to do things the right way.
I am not the only one.

A free society can not exist in a world where the law of the land is routinely flaunted and the responsible government authority merely shrugs. A free society depends on a limited government that proactively fulfills the few responsibilities it does have, and the Arizona bill is nothing short of the people of Arizona twisting the arm of the federal government to get it to live up to its responsibilities.

Greece: "We are images from the future"
There is a book by that title coming out soon about the financial meltdown in Greece and the spreading effects.

As this Times article relates, the parents and earlier generations are being blamed. Will our children and grandchildren react this way after we allow our government to destroy and "transform" America? Could be. Something to think about.
"The question of who was to blame and who should pay for the greatest crisis to afflict the single currency was a subject of heated debate, particularly after a leading credit rating agency put the cradle of civilisation in the same category as Azerbaijan by reducing its (Greece) government bonds to “junk” status. "
Hasn't Moody's talked about America's rating being reduced? There is a "rescue" package being discussed for Greece but only if they are willing to make concessions in their entitlement programs among other stated conditions for the bailout. Citizens are not all willing to do that. Would Americans be willing to having to make across the board concessions?
Would U.S. government employees be willing to take a cut? Would social security recipients be willing to take a cut? When was the last time any of you got a raise? Why is it only the average worker that is currently making concessions?
In Greece public sector workers can retire as early as 45 with paid benefits and retirement pay. Many Greek workers are paid 14 months salary.
How long did they think the system could support this kind of overly generous compensation?
And of course they are the epitome of what is beginning here, overly restrictive regulations on business.
We need to watch this carefully, this is our current path. We do not need to "look at what the rest of the industrialized nations are doing". They are sinking. We have always been different, in my opinion better. We should be leading the way, not following the leader. Shall we sink with them?
