Greece: "We are images from the future"

There is a book by that title coming out soon about the financial meltdown in Greece and the spreading effects.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article7113941.ece

As this Times article relates, the parents and earlier generations are being blamed. Will our children and grandchildren react this way after we allow our government to destroy and "transform" America? Could be. Something to think about.

"The question of who was to blame and who should pay for the greatest crisis to afflict the single currency was a subject of heated debate, particularly after a leading credit rating agency put the cradle of civilisation in the same category as Azerbaijan by reducing its (Greece) government bonds to “junk” status. "

Hasn't Moody's talked about America's rating being reduced? There is a "rescue" package being discussed for Greece but only if they are willing to make concessions in their entitlement programs among other stated conditions for the bailout. Citizens are not all willing to do that. Would Americans be willing to having to make across the board concessions?

Would U.S. government employees be willing to take a cut? Would social security recipients be willing to take a cut? When was the last time any of you got a raise? Why is it only the average worker that is currently making concessions?

In Greece public sector workers can retire as early as 45 with paid benefits and retirement pay. Many Greek workers are paid 14 months salary.

How long did they think the system could support this kind of overly generous compensation?

And of course they are the epitome of what is beginning here, overly restrictive regulations on business.

We need to watch this carefully, this is our current path. We do not need to "look at what the rest of the industrialized nations are doing". They are sinking. We have always been different, in my opinion better. We should be leading the way, not following the leader. Shall we sink with them?

we...the U.S. have out lived all other great civilizations by a mere 35 years........we are on the down side of the slope.....there is no saving the GREATEST NATION THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN.

a strange statement for me to make butt it has to be true....look around you...the cycle repeats over and over and over and......the greeks, romans, messypotamia (gubmint ed. an' spel chicks day off) hell even the chinee.....had their days of glory...our turn came and we forked it up...right around Jan '61...

don't cry for me amerika...we got the scumsuckin' politicians we deserved...

I have maybe 20 more years left and it's not going to be pleasent seeing my nation submerge into 3rd or even 4th world status in those remaining years...

the only thing that could slow the decline is to change the way the gubmint operates...YOU have to have the POWER! the folks you send to represent you MUST FEAR YOU!!....

I heard this in a movie once...it's better to be feared than to be respected...and it makes sense to me....how 'bout you???

A number of things come to mind.

Retirement? I do not think in those terms. I am well beyond retirement age for Greece.

A raise? The work that I take on determines whether I get a "raise" or not. Again, if you are not satisfied with your "wage" then get out there and find something else.

Greece failing? Impact on bond markets everywhere. I remember the domino theory from South East Asia in the 60's/70's. I think that we found the proper application of that theory.

Selling our children's future? I have worked with European firms from time to time. I noticed that getting into the job market in Europe was almost impossible. More and more, the young people are locked out of work in Europe unless someone moves up/retires/dies/quits. Now I am seeing that here. More and more I see young people angry they cannot find a job. People with college degrees in their 40's 50's working at HEB.

Social security? Good laugh. I take care of my Indian mother because the USeless Govt took everything from her. The US took their land and left broken promises in return. So if the US will not honor their commitments on the blood of troops and braves why would I expect them to honor their entitlements?

I have some mutual funds and stocks left. Most all of my retirement assets are in self-directed IRAs where my trust owns land. A couple of them are rentals, so all of the rent income goes back into my IRA, tax deferred. Do not worry, the USelss Govt may be coming after that real soon.

Between all of this globalization crap, Greeks bearing gifts, Army Greeks in Army showers with Army gays dropping Army soap on Army floors, dumbass scumsuckin Osamabama Army, publicly-traded companies are going to get hammered. Raise the taxes. Creation of VAT is going to lead to more home-spun industry along with bartering under the table. My neighbor builds me a table and I will give them some chicken eggs. And the dumbass liberals will cry "mo' taxes, mo' taxes" and more will go underground.

Coop, grow a bigger garden. I use my coop for chickens. So, I will get my veggies from Coop and my eggs from the coop. Coop will get his veggies from Coop's garden and eggs from my coop. Coop is wise. Coop is good.

And when the liberals cry for USeless Govt to crack down? Out comes the guns. I am on the side with guns and ammo. Liberals are on the side with the targets.

You decide.

"ten feet tall"

Anyway, funny talking about barter system, was just discussing this with a co-worker who is going to start a chicken coop, said I'd buy eggs from him. We make a lot of plum jelly (yummy) for sale or trade. Yep it'll grow. They never learn.

HEY! I just had those goats vaccinated and been through all their shots. No way. 3mbw is not going to be in there molesting my goats again!!! Argh!!!

By the way, third Navy SEAL McCabe: NOT Guilty on ALL Counts! That is correct. The more I read about the testimony in his case the more angry I become. The case brought by the prosecution was the biggest joke I have ever seen. Lends more evidence to my original assertion. MG Cleveland wanted these three valorous men to fry so that he could get his third star. Not so much that he deliberately put these men through hell for his gain. He was afraid for his own career once something came out about the dirt bag, flea-ridden, piece of rotting puss islamo-fascist terrorist had a bloody lip.

The physician that examined the terrorist in Iraq testified that the blood most likely resulted from the prisoner biting into a lip ulcer. Further, we have alleged testimony of the prisoner being bloodied by a punch and the prisoner testifying that he was kicked. What the heck???? Which was it??? MG Cleveland went running scared to his JAG office to get his dumbass off the hook and cover his butt. I hope this PERSCOM weenie gets his ass handed to him in a sling. It was MG Cleveland that brought disgrace to the service and discredit upon himself! Step aside and let a real man lead, you disgusting zipper head.

Auntie Em said...

Dang you beat me to it!!!

Go Navy Seals!!!

off the reservation said...

Auntie Em,

This was a horrible fight for these brave men. It should never have happened. The scant evidence brought in by the prosecution was contorted and inconsistent.

One of the so-called points that MG Cleveland tried to make in response to a Congressional Inquiry was that the statements from Huertas and Keefe having very similar statements as if they conspired to make their affidavits match.

For anyone that has served and written up after action reports, after a while all of them start to look the same and sound the same. Same TLA's, same format, same narrative. We are taught to be brief and use a consistent format.

Everything here smells nasty. We have people worried about how their careers look slamming good fighting men out there taking on Islamo-terrorist slime.

Which leads me to something I saw on the internet.

Which is the biggest frustration for liberals this week?

A. Times Square bomber not a white, natural-born US citizen, Tea Party member.

B. Times Square bomber is a registered Democrat Islamic Terrorist.

C. The creator of the largest oil slick ever, BP, had the lion's share of its donations made to Obama.

D. All three Navy SEALs were cleared of all charges.

E. All of the above.

Alex I'm going with E!!!
