HR2454 Cap and Tax

Yahoo News Blip

Excerpts and my comments:

"Democrats pointed to two reports — one from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and the other from the Environmental Protection Agency — that suggested average increases would be limited after tax credits and rebates were taken into account. The CBO estimated the bill would cost an average household $175 a year, the EPA $80 to $110 a year. But Republicans and industry groups say the real figure would much higher."

Tax credits and rebates???? Where do you think those are coming from? Those of us who PAY TAXES that's who.

"For some it was a very difficult vote because the entrenched agents of the status quo were out there full force, jamming the lines in their districts and here, and they withstood that," Pelosi said.

Withstood? Oh honey, you have yet to see what these people are going to have to withstand!

"It is paid for by the polluters who currently emit dangerous carbon emissions," the president said. "It provides assistance to businesses and families as they make the gradual transition to clean energy technologies."

Another case of Washington thinking we don't know that those "polluters" are the companies providing thousands of jobs and that this will result in layoffs in some cases and price increases to consumers in others. Some will do both.

THAT is how economics works! You don't run a company NOT to make a profit! Unless you're some fictional company from Atlas Shrugged!

This is all so sad. Yes, we need to work on alternative sources of energy. And despite the media reports that no one is doing that, IBM currently is making great strides in their 300 and 500 mile battery for electric cars. There are already more and more residents putting up solar panels on their homes. There are even several brands of roofing shingle systems that have built in solar capabilities.

All from the free market system.

We should be working in a systematic way to cheaper sustainable energy. But that takes time, meanwhile we are all paying more and more for gas in our cars, heating costs and transportation costs for foods and other goods. WHILE we are working on those sources of energy, we should release our reserves into our supply and start drilling here in the United States. Think of the jobs that would produce! And the reserves could be replaced with the AMERICAN oil. No more Middle East dependence.

Why is that so hard for liberals to accept? Because the politicians would no longer have as much control. We have allowed our government to get TOO big. Is it too big to fail? I hope not.
