Some people just have a Rush obsession

My response to one that can not go a day without complaining about Rush Limbaugh supposedly being tauted as the head of the Republican Party, which is bull.

--------------------------------------

I really really don't understand your obsession with Rush Limbaugh. He does NOT run the party. He is one voice of many of conservatives. And really, the only ones that talk about him are the liberal media so you are falling for their game. He was on Greta's show the other day and that is the only time I've seen him anywhere in months. He says himself he is not the head of the party.

It's not about "too many syllables" it's that your message is confused. Are you truly conservative or are you a troll in disguise that was assigned the duty of bringing up Rush every chance you get?

I can't think of anyone on this forum who even mentions him at all - EXCEPT YOU!
The head of the Republican party is Michael Steele in case you didn't know. As far as a leader for candidacy, we don't have one, yet. Working on that. You have any ideas?

If you are truly a conservative, how about coming out with some positive ideas.

These people for instance:

http://www.nationalconservativerepublicanalliance.org/

They are looking for TRUE conservatives to support for various offices across the country. If any of you want to run for any office, these would be good people to contact. Or donate to.

See, there are some positive things we can do. The left would have everyone believe it's just about no no no. That's what they would like. Don't fall for it.

Another Example of Stupidity - food is free, it's on a vegetable tree

I apologize in advance to my friends from California. This just happens to be one example, I'm sure there are some elsewhere. But this is too funny!

Most Trusted Name in News and an Explanation of The Stupidity of America

Walter Cronkite was known as The Most Trusted Name in News. He will sorely be missed. He was a true journalist, in that he would report the news as it happened without any spin, without interjecting his own personal opinion. Most people did not know his political affiliations. Turns out he was liberal but kept that out of his job.

American media has lost the "objective" part of their job, they are a major disappointment.

To make the point for how serious a let down this is, Time Magazine conducted an online poll to see who would take Cronkite's place as The Most Trusted Name in News.

And the winner is : Jon Stewart

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE! Do you not realize this is not a real news show?

I am SO embarrassed.

Obamacare and abortions

I have sent this question out to some news people, waiting for their response.

For those doctors who do not believe in abortions, will they be forced to perform them under the Public Option plan? They are already trying to force them in Medicaid cases.

I am opposed to abortion not for religious reasons but for scientific. We keep having cases of premature babies, earlier and earlier in delivery surviving. They are viable humans. So if the only thing preventing us from calling a fetus a "viable human being" is technology, then we need to rethink our abortion law.

Any woman these days of easy access to rubbers, birth control of various sorts, etc. that still ends up with an unwanted pregnancy is just stupid. There are lots of people to adopt. We probably need to look at adoption laws too.

Interesting little tidbit on Liberal Talking Points

We've been seeing on sites like Boortz and others a rash of very forceful libs bashing us to bits with volumes of posts about the health plan. They are generally dumb but the sheer number can be daunting. Seemed to be too staged. So I went a looking.

Found this on Daily Kos in an article about a video of Lewis Black dogging the GOP:

"Now, before someone says Black didn't offer substantive facts in his rebuttals, sometimes folks, when you're dealing with truly stupid talking points, the best response isn't one filled with facts and figures, but rather snarky dismissiveness. Showing McConnell's anecdote doesn't even qualify as an urban legend is brilliant IMO."

Now, the part that got me was the instruction to NOT use facts and figures but rather to use "snarky dismissiveness"! Especially since one of our posters who is especially painful to deal with goes by the name of snarkybird. Hmmmmm, now maybe I can fire back at him.

They always give themselves away!

SOME good news!

Senator Reid said the Senate would NOT get around to voting on the health bill till after their recess.

Maybe now, they can actually read it! Or better yet, we can have time to read it.

I just don't understand why we have to turn the entire economy upside down just to accommodate a small percentage of people. I would say Americans, but they want to cover illegal aliens too.

It was tough on Boortz today, we have attracted some serious trolls, who have come prepared with a whole new set of talking points from their leaders. I'm not smart enough to refute them, even though I know they are wrong.

Liberal Hater where are you! We needed you today!

ugh im brain dead now

A Test

Okay, so I borrowed this from JoeShmoe....

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before but had once failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.

The students who studied hard were upset - and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed; to their great surprise!

Then the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great ~ but when government takes all the reward away no one will try ~ or even have a desire ~ to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

More Atlas Shrugged

I'm still only about 75% through. This is a very entertaining book even if you are not reading it for the political and economic significance.

What it has made me realize is that we are losing our manufacturing base. Somewhere along the way, we decided we didn't need manufacturing. We would become a nation of science and technology. There is very little manufacturing, mostly just two loser automobile companies that took our money and still went bankrupt, still taking our money. How long will Ford hold out? Have to respect them for trying to hold their own. The factories that are left will be driven out by the ever rising union costs, utility costs (thanks to the cap& tax if it passes) and competition from abroad.

Science and technology? We are already losing in the field of technology, being outsourced as it is. And our schools are no longer capable of producing the scientific minds required to maintain a science base.

Where does that leave us?

Half of our population are struggling producers, taking pride in their work and realizing that money is only the measurement of that pride and effort, not an entity of it's own to be despised and judged as the root of all evil.

The other half are entitlement whores with their hand out, demanding that the producers "give back" when none of them have done anything but hinder the producers.

Maybe it will take a Galt's Gulch approach to wake up our nation. How many of the producers of this nation do you think are able to retire right now and live out their lives in comfort with what they have already accumulated? Just spend enough to keep them going, instead of investing their wealth in job generating endeavors. Why should they? Those efforts are not appreciated. The looters feel those jobs are their right! That all they should have to do is show up to get paid, or worse, claim they are unable to find "suitable" work. We should all be willing to get out and dig ditches if that is what will restart the motor of our country.

Science & Technology are fine, but without manufacturing, they are only ideas. We do need ideas but we need them from all aspects of a successful economic model. Funny thing is, manufacturing successes have always come up with the ideas needed, long before Science & Technology were thought of as separate disciplines.

That's what we have to realize, they all operate together, one drives the other. It's like a three legged stool. We are now striving to balance on two legs of a stool, with one of those getting shorter every day.

We MUST make it easier for the great minds and producers to do what they do best. Create. Create jobs, new products, new technology, new sciences. Create opportunities for workers proud of their skills to better themselves and their family's life by means of that which they EARN not what someone is forced to give them.

We have to give everyone the same opportunity. To succeed or fail on their own, without interferrence or hindrance from the government.

Can you imagine if business had no taxes to pay? The drop in price of our products, the jobs that would be created, the competition with overseas companies. Heck those overseas companies would be knocking down our door to get in!!!! The brain power that would be generated HERE!

Business does not pay tax anyway, why do we continue to fool ourselves? They only pass those taxes on to consumers. All these levels of taxation are one of the main driving forces of inflation.

Enable business, stop enabling entitlement.

Global Warming?

Climate Change? All scientists agree??? Not so much!

650 just in this report disagree with the scientific reports that have been thrown at us by the government and main stream media.

They really believe this stuff!

Have to share a little "discussion" I had on the Boortz forum:

Idiot poster (my name for him) Can't Have it Both Ways
Boortz mentions that the stimulus package has put the nation deeper into debt; he also says that its the citizens' money and that we should get to spend it ourselves. Which is it Boortz? Is the federal government borrowing the stimulus money or is it taxing us for the money?

The truth is the money is being borrowed, mainly from China. The stimulus money is not coming out of our paychecks. It's true that the money that will be used to pay back the stimulus loan will come from us though; in theory though, but by then hopefully the stimulus package will have had a positive affect on our economy, and the payback of the loan won't be as painful.

Whether or not the stimulus is effective, that is in theory how it works. We are borrowing money to prime the pump of our economy, in hopes that the economy will be primed when it is time to repay the loan (thus making payback easier). Boortz either isn't aware of this, or chooses to ignore this very basic concept in his article.

Boortz also ignores the fact that if we were to keep more of our tax dollars, a considerable percentage of it would be kept in banks or be used to pay down credit card debt, and would not go towards stimulating the economy. (personally I don't have a problem with that, I'm just stating a basic economic theory which Boortz ignores).

So now the economy is as bad as it was back in 1983, which was over two years into Reagan's first term. But wait, weren't the economic woes of 1983 still Carter's fault? Obama's been in office almost 6 months and yet now he's getting full blame for a worsening economy (the economy got a lot worse under Reagan than it ever did under Carter, before things improved).

You can't have it both ways folks.

Me: This guy himself ignores that if money is kept in banks, it is there for reloaning! Good for the economy. Paying down your personal debt means you then have more disposable income to spend. Again, good for the economy.

He also seems to think we shouldn't be concerned because all the stimulus hasn't been spent yet. He has no ability to project into the future and see trouble ahead, just the now is all that is important. Oh we're borrowing it from China, it's not like it's coming out of OUR pockets.... Now show of hands, even if the economy gets stimulated, do any of really think it'll be enough to pay back the stimulus, bailouts, multiple bailouts and corporation grabbing, cap & trade rebates and incentives, health care? Any one?

Oh it gets worse:

However a lot of economists believe that increased government spending helps the economy in times of slow economic growth, or a recession.

Obama and his team clearly believe this. Time will tell if this is true or not. On the other hand, some economists are saying that the stimulus package is not large enough to have the desired impact.

Obama has pledged to cut the deficits over time. My hope is that the economy turns around soon and that Obama does cut spending over the next few years...(but I'll believe it when I see it).

Me: And a lot of economists don't believe increased spending will help. Some even think that it will make things worse. Like the CBO. But I am sure that "Obama and his team" believes it and would love to do a bigger stimulus.

And yeah, Obama has pledged to cut the deficits over time. He also has said he does not want to run banks, does not want to run car companies, so it always worries me when he says he does not want to do something. I'm looking out the window to see the next rollout of something he does not want to do.

And all the while, insulting me like *I* am the idiot!

July 4th, 2009

I would have liked to title today's post Independence Day, but don't quite have the feel for independence this year, not yet. Maybe I'll have a special Independence Day post after the elections November 2012. Or even a smaller one 2010.

Well after many drafts, cups of coffee and way more than the governments recommended dosage of tylenol, I have finally decided on my post for today. I wasn't sure if I wanted to be up beat and positive or doom and gloom which is a feeling all too often these days. But I do fight it! We have to fight it or just give up and become one of the looters from Atlas Shrugged.

So I will start with a quote I picked up off Freedom Watch 7/1/09, thanks Judge Napolitano.

Justice Felix Frankfurter, 1882-1965. As you can see from his years on this earth, he was witness to a lot of changes in our nation and the world. Even after all these years, I find this quote especially appropriate for today:

"The loss of Liberty rarely comes overnight. It usually comes because of well intended people and the unintended consequences of their use and abuse, of the government to interfere in our lives."

This is one of those quotes that will pop into your head many times in the days, months and years to come. It means more and more as you think of it.

Our Constitution was written by men who instinctively knew there would be unintended consequences. They tried to give us the tools to avoid or at least minimize their damage until such time that we saw the results with clear eyes and enabled us to take steps to reverse these consequences. As long as we follow this blueprint, this path mapped out by our founders, we are protected from long term damage to our Republic.

We have strayed from our path. It is still in sight, we just need to check our compasses and begin the journey back. The path is dark, light a torch, and step carefully. We can find our way.

Happy July 4th

Make a difference.
