"A circuit court judge has dismissed the government’s case against Brandon Raub and ordered that the Marine veteran, detained over anti-government Facebook posts, be released from a state psychiatric hospital because authorities had no grounds to detain him, Catie Beck of CBS 6 News reports."
This is what I found disturbing (among many things): every year in Virginia more than 20,000 people are committed under similar circumstances and "that means a lot of people are disappearing" under the pretext of mental illness.
In Europe,
especially in Germany, hoisting a swastika-emblazoned Nazi flag
is a crime. For decades after World War II, people have hunted down
and sought punishment for Nazi murderers, who were responsible for
the deaths of more than 20 million people. Here's my question:
Why are the horrors of Nazism so well-known and widely condemned
but not those of socialism and communism? What goes untaught – and
possibly is covered up – is that socialist and communist ideas have
produced the greatest evil in mankind's history. You say, "Williams,
what in the world are you talking about? Socialists, communists
and their fellow travelers, such as the Wall Street occupiers supported
by our president, care about the little guy in his struggle for
a fair shake! They're trying to promote social justice." Let's look
at some of the history of socialism and communism.
What's not
appreciated is that Nazism is a form of socialism. In fact, the
term Nazi stands for the National Socialist German Workers' Party.
The unspeakable acts of Adolf Hitler's Nazis pale in comparison
with the horrors committed by the communists in the former Union
of Soviet Socialist Republics and the People's Republic of China.
Between 1917 and 1987, Vladimir Lenin, Josef Stalin and their successors
murdered and were otherwise responsible for the deaths of 62 million
of their own people. Between 1949 and 1987, China's communists,
led by Mao Zedong and his successors, murdered and were otherwise
responsible for the deaths of 76 million Chinese. The most authoritative
tally of history's most murderous regimes is documented on University
of Hawaii Professor Rudolph J. Rummel's website, and in his
book Death
by Government.
How much hunting
down and punishment have there been for these communist murderers?
To the contrary, it's acceptable both in Europe and in the U.S.
to hoist and march under the former USSR's red flag emblazoned with
a hammer and sickle. Mao Zedong has been long admired by academics
and leftists across our country, as they often marched around singing
the praises of Mao and waving his little red book, "Quotations From
Chairman Mao Tse-tung." President Barack Obama's communications
director, Anita Dunn, in her June 2009 commencement address to St.
Andrews Episcopal High School at Washington National Cathedral,
said Mao was one of her heroes. Whether it's
the academic community, the media elite, stalwarts of the Democratic
Party or organizations such as the NAACP, the National Council of
La Raza, Green for All, the Sierra Club and the Children's Defense
Fund, there is a great tolerance for the ideas of socialism – a
system that has caused more deaths and human misery than all other
systems combined. Today's leftists,
socialists and progressives would bristle at the suggestion that
their agenda differs little from those of Nazi, Soviet and Maoist
mass murderers. One does not have to be in favor of death camps
or wars of conquest to be a tyrant. The only requirement is that
one has to believe in the primacy of the state over individual rights. The
unspeakable horrors of Nazism didn't happen overnight. They were
simply the end result of a long evolution of ideas leading to consolidation
of power in central government in the quest for "social justice."
It was decent but misguided earlier generations of Germans – who
would have cringed at the thought of genocide – who created the
Trojan horse for Hitler's ascendancy. Today's Americans are similarly
accepting the massive consolidation of power in Washington in the
name of social justice. If you don't
believe it, just ask yourself: Which way are we headed tiny steps
at a time – toward greater liberty or toward more government control
over our lives? Perhaps we
think that we are better human beings than the German people who
created the conditions that brought Hitler to power. I say, don't
count on it.
Enjoy the video? I had a few problems with it and while chewing over my words, our buddy butt neckid (who sent to me and several others) had a followup which touched on almost all my issues! So with his permission, here goes (if you get offended with any of the language then go back to Media Matters):

commies came out with the prize at a very high price...
and now

incumbent you deserve to have that fuzzy rat turd shoved up your
ass...with the rat attached!!!...okay gotta go the meds just kicked
in...
Obama is proving he does not acknowledge the concept of equal but separate branches of government. Congress should just cave to his every wish or he'll whip out that executive action pen and show them who's boss!!
On the surface you'd think we should do all we can to protect our power grids and water treatment facilities. So what is the problem? After all, he's only asking for voluntary standards... under Homeland Security scrutiny!!!
And there's the rub. The Republicans in the House has already passed a bill "encouraging" businesses to share cyberthreat information. That was probably a big mistake as it'll be rolled into the responsibility of our buddies at Homeland Security who are the sole judge of what constitutes a national security issue and whether a company falls under that umbrella.
Okay I'm extrapolating there, but do you really think a crisis would not give HS the opportunity to further regulate businesses? All in the name of security?
Ol' Ben Franklin keeps yelling in my ear "those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserves neither".
What do you think about the possibility of a Petraus VP for Romney? Me thinks Obama is wishful thinking cause this would probably chase away all the independents.
"Article I, Section 6, Clause 1, of the U.S. Constitution states in part,
for any Speech or Debate in either House, [senators and representatives] shall not be questioned in any other place.
The purpose of the clause is to prevent the arrest and prosecution of unpopular legislators based on their political views."
This only applies to when they are speaking from the floor which is the only time that Reid is so adamant that Romney has not paid taxes! He doesn't say (while on the floor) that there is a rumor, he flat out say, Romney has not paid taxes!
So this clause protects their lies and innuendo's.
Is the recent Chick Fila bruhaha a serious issue or a distraction? Putting aside how you personally feel about gay marriage, do you really think anyone in government should say they are not going to "allow" Chick Fila to open in their city?
What does that say about the power these officials think they have or we have given them?
We used to be a nation that respected and defended everyone's 1st amendment right to free speech EVEN IF what they said was in direct contradiction to our own beliefs.
But even now we can find examples of that attitude. Maybe it is re-awakening in all of us? In reading the comment sections of at least half a dozen sites where this is a big discussion, there have been many self-proclaimed gays who support the "eat in" and it's defense of free speech. Bravo!
And here we actually have the ACLU once again stepping up to defend the KKK's free speech rights as they attempt to "Adopt A Highway" near Blairsville, GA.
But LW, you say, there are so many more important issues, this is jut a distraction!! And you know what? When I first started working on this article THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT TO WRITE!!! But the more I read and thought about it, what could be more important than our First Amendment???
And then we have the question of the opposing view being allowed to express their same right. But is there a limit? Today's "kiss in" resulted in vandalism to a Chick Fila restaurant.
Picture from LA Times.
Should they be allowed to block customers from entering a restaurant? And it's not just Chick Fila. Should people be allowed to approach your advertisers and threaten them with a boycott if they don't drop their advertising? This is what Media Matters does to Rush Limbaugh.
Doctors face the dilemma of coming under attack if they do not perform abortions when that is against their personal views.
Where is the line? Should there be a line or is it a case of "careful what you wish for" cause some bureaucrat somewhere will abuse even that.
Think we could kick this site up a notch? Maybe have some guest writers and co-admin? What about advertising, yes or no? What is it about a site that keeps you coming back every day. Do you want general consensus or total antagonistic venom spewing?
I've considered it in the past but didn't think anyone would be that interested in my ramblings. But with a little help from my friends (get that song outta your head) maybe it could happen!
"If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin." Samuel Adams, 1776
Isn't it more important to be concerned with America succeeding? The success of one individual who is an employee of the American People is not near as important as the welfare of our nation and it's people. The American people deserve and have the right via the Constitution to the "pursuit of happiness". That is the right to succeed or fail on their own efforts, without any interference from the Federal Government.
The President, regardless of who is in the office at the time, is at best, a temporary employee and needs to remember who his boss is. US.
