AIG Bonuses

We CAN'T take them. It's just unconstitutional. As much as we think it stinks, we have to follow the rule of law. Those were legally binding contracts. The last thing we want is for the government to have that kind of power.

We can however, go after those that allowed this to happen. And I don't mean Liddy. I mean Dodd, Emmanuel, Reid and Pelosi. Dodd had written up the amendment to allow the bonuses under certain circumstances, Emmanuel took Pelosi and Reid into a closed door session and the amendment came out changed.

I remember when this closed door session occurred, the Republicans were complaining about how this was supposed to be a bi-partisan stimulus package but they kept being closed out. Then they weren't allowed the time to read it. This is just one reason why. What else is in that bill that is going to come back and bite us on the ass.

Meanwhile, any one that would threaten the AIG employees or their families really needs to look in the mirror to see what kind of monster you have become.

False Outrage from Washington over AIG

They are lying to us! They have known about these bonuses for MONTHS! This is just to keep you from seeing that 62BILLION of the money they gave AIG is going OVERSEAS!!!

At least some of the Repubs are calling them to task for their part, i.e., Dodd, Bernanke and others:

Don't be distracted by AIG

Barney Franke and his buddies have known since day one that these bonuses were going to be paid. In fact BF worked the rules to enable the payments. The shock and disbelief is all for appearances. These bonuses were written up last year, presented before AIG accepted the bailout money and are contractually legal.

TRUST ME we do not want the government having the power to set aside contracts. That is a dangerous road people, don't give them that power. As much as it hurts to see AIG get the bonuses, we are stuck with it. Move on to the real issues, BILLIONS going in all directions.
