Energy Discussion

http://www.pickensplan.com/
http://www.americansolutions.com/
Please let me know if you have any other good suggestions.
This will be a NON political (yes I said NON) because leaders from both sides are working either on their own program or you will see some here where they are working together.
Starting with the Pickens Plan, his first phase is wind. There are lots of links on his websites on where and how much energy he believes can be captured with these wind farms. These are not the same old wind mills you see all over the southwest that about a third of them are not even working. Those have turned out to be a maintenance nightmare. Pickens is wanting to put into play the best technology that this country has to offer. Getting the cost down, maintenance issues minimized and putting into play in a short time frame the infrastructure needed to get this generated power where it is needed.
He was just in North Dakota meeting with their Senators, then on to Arizona, New York and Texas, whew, a busy man.
Please take a few moments to look over his websites and get back here with comments, pro or con. The second site asks you to sign in, don't worry you won't end up on 15 million email lists. And it doesn't mean you support it, you just want to look at it.
Back later!

Why Socialism does NOT work!
Our founding fathers set this country up as a Republic. Does everyone know what that means? A Democracy is rule by man. Republic is rule by law. This is an important distinction because they KNEW that there would be times when the men in power would be tempted to practice law according to their own personal agenda and try to change the very fundamentals of who we are. Rule of man is inconsistent, occasionally evil and always unreliable.
Now, Socialism is basically boiled down to this quote "from each according to their abilities, to each according to their needs". Let's take a closer look.
Who decides the masses needs? Socialism again breaks away from the Rule by Law. The "needs" will vary depending on who is in power at the time. And how much from each? Another chance for inconsistency to rear it's ugly head.
America has an ungodly (sorry T&M) amount of people who are all to willing to stick their hands out. I don't think we have enough working people to support them all according to what they consider to be their "needs". What level is ok? Tax rate of 36%? 50%? Where does it stop?
There are a few nations out there that claim Socialism works for them. Health care is paid for, college education is paid for. From these people I hear "the government pays...". Well sorry to disappoint but that is just Impossible! The Government doesn't pay a dime. Taxpayers are paying for all these benefits. Government doesn't create jobs (unless it's paying someone to pick up trash alongside the road). Industries, Corporations create jobs. And the only way to get them to do that is to make it attractive for them to do so.
We have an astronomically porous border. And these "illegal aliens" are draining our system more and more. If we were pure Socialist, our system would completely fall apart. We are under pressure already. No way can we afford to take care of everyone.
The LA Times reported that out of all the Illegals in the state of California, only 2% are involved in the harvesting of table goods that Immigration proponents claim is reason enough to let them in. Yet an astounding 28% are on welfare.
Socialism depends on SOMEONE working. The percentage of workers to non-workers in this country is in danger of tipping our boat for good.

Fair Tax - build the momentum
Dear FairTax supporters,
There is much to say in this, "the morning after," email so I'll be brief as I share a few thoughts about the FairTax in the days ahead.
FairTax.org is non-partisan, but I know the same cannot be said for many of our supporters. And, as such, I suspect yesterday's results came as a disappointment for some.
For me, I look at things through many lenses--as a father, as a taxpayer, as an American, as National Communications Director for FairTax.org. For my FairTax.org role in particular, I see both challenges and incredible opportunities in the days ahead for our great cause.
Let me explain. In the past year, the FairTax has achieved historical support in Congress mostly via Republican backing in the House and Senate. With yesterday's returns, GOP ranks--including FairTax supporters--were thinned both by retirement decisions and the ballot box, meaning come January we'll be rebuilding our co-sponsorship levels.
Yet, that challenge is a welcome one for it affords us the opportunity to remind grassroots supporters, as well as national political figures, that the FairTax is not a Republican issue. Nor is it Democrat. It's an American one and in this, one of our darkest financial hours in decades, it's the solution we need to save the American economy. So for Republicans or Democrats (or any other political stripe for that matter) with their retirement or college savings plans being decimated by a falling stock market, the FairTax is the solution. For Republicans or Democrats trying to make their mortgage payments and keep a roof over their heads, the FairTax is the solution (after all, most banks don't bother asking your political party when foreclosing). For Republicans or Democrats whose jobs were shipped overseas for cheaper production costs and favorable taxation, the FairTax is the solution. And for a way to jumpstart the American economy with a $10 trillion dollar stimulus program funded with private investments, the FairTax is the solution.
You know, we heard a lot about change this election and we couldn't agree more. Let's us focus on real change: Bringing power back to people, not just powerful Washington insiders.
Don't think for a second that "our enemy" is either Democrats or Republicans. Indeed, the tax code is manipulated by both parties in Congress alike with reckless abandon to punish enemies and reward supporters at the hands of well-heeled lobbyists and their privileged access to Congressional tax-writing committees. Ending that practice is the kind of change we seek.
So what happens now? In short: We press on. We'll be working hard to forge new relationships in Washington, while continuing to grow our base at the grassroots level online and via new offline activities, including our new FairTax Advanced Tactics "camp." State leaders are forging ahead with new strategies to help each other and expand the base outside our centers of strength. We've seen several FairTax "distorters" turned back at the polls. We've made incredible progress in the past year, and we plan to continue that momentum. Our campaign has always been the people of America--of all political beliefs--versus the entrenched interests that surround the income tax system. In this, nothing has changed. We need now to work harder than ever to tell union members how the FairTax will keep jobs here in America, and explain to political leaders how the FairTax can unburden the poor, give small business the needed tax freedom to form and prosper and unlock the genius of American productivity and investment.
Furthermore, FairTax.org leadership is continuing to work to bring in new high-profile advocates, including some key Democrat leadership figures. We're also thrilled to announce a closer relationship with Governor Mike Huckabee, the former GOP presidential candidate and major FairTax supporter. As you know, Huck helped gain national attention for the FairTax during his run for the White House. Look for promotion of the FairTax on his new Fox show "Huckabee," on radio and in print with his new book, Do the Right Thing, in the coming days. As you can see, the days ahead hold incredible opportunity for the FairTax cause.
Let's go!
Sincerely, Ken HoaglandNational Communications Director

I voted, I voted!!!
Took an hour and 45 minutes for advanced voting, it's gonna be a zoo on Tuesday. We all noticed something though. For all the talk about the youth getting out to vote, there was not ONE repeat NOT ONE young person in that very long line. Hmmmmm.
Oh and so exciting, there were in addition to Bob Barr, three other libertarians on the ballot for local stuff! Kewl huh. Yes I voted for them.
For our Senate, there was Saxby Chambliss-R, and Jim Martin-D. Martin has been running lying ads about how Saxby is wanting to raise the prices of everything 23%. Okay, either Jimbo is lying or he understands NOTHING about the Fair Tax. Morons.
Anyway, Sheldon is taking Sunday off so we can go to the Fair Tax rally in Macon, GA. Hope to see ya'll there!
Now, GO VOTE.

I know, I've been a baaaad Libertarian....
Believe me, it ain't been easy. In fact, when it was looking like Hillary would win the nomination, I was planning on voting Barr.
But geezle peet, no way can we let this Obama in office!!!! Do you realize even if a conservative or a libertarian gets elected in 2012 or (gasp!) 2016, that it will take 10 to 15 years to undo the damage to our republic! IF EVER!
Democrats will never pass the Fair Tax and will never make government smaller. BUT the push to the left will be so much harder and faster with Obama in there.
So, sorry but have to vote for McCain. Unless it looks like a total landslide for Obama then I'll vote for Barr.
Letter to Obama
Dear President Obama,
I agree with your spread the wealth ideas and in that spirit I have attached my utility bills for the month. If you could pay these by the 10th I would appreciate it.
Next month I would like to get new tires for my Honda. Expect them to be $450 to $500. Can you go ahead and send the money now? I wouldn't want to have to do this out of pocket ya know.
Keep up the good work, I have cut my hours back at work since you are gonna provide for me. Thanks again!

The BBC
A well meaning friend sent me the link, and then some comment about the Republicans causing the housing/financial. I think we was just trying to get my goat but I did remind her it was the dems and some weakkneed Republicans that caused it.
After surfing about bbc for awhile and recovering from hurling (sorry) I have one thing to say. Exactly what makes people think that it is the LEAST bit important what other nations think of us? This is not a popularity contest people! And the terrorists would hate us no matter what we did. I actually saw some moron saying Obama would be good cause he would apologize for all the trouble America had caused and would try to please the world! WHO CARES~!!!! What the world thinks!
It would be nice if everyone loved us. But it is not necessary and I certainly don't want us doing things with that goal in mind.
Obama is the scariest thing to hit the ballot in my 50+ years. This subprime loan fiasco is 10 times worse than Watergate. There is a committee "investigating" the Fannie/Freddie failure. That is a congressional committee I believe. Kinda like the fox guarding the hen house ain't it?

ACORN Excerpt
THE ANTICS OF ACORN
A listener, William, sent us a compellation of various times when ACORN has resorted to voter fraud, just to get their Messiah, Barack Obama, elected. Here's a synopsis of some of the different cases against ACORN, just in this election season alone. Are you starting to understand what is going on here, folks? These are not isolated incidents. Now as you read of these incidents remember, please, that during Obama's days as a community organizer he was deeply involved with ACORN. That ought to set of some alarm bells with the media ... ought to, but it won't.
Washington
July 26, 2007,Seattle Times
Felony charges filed against 7 in state's biggest case of voter-registration fraud. The defendants, who were paid employees and supervisors of ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now
Michigan
September 14, 2008, Detroit Free Press
Several municipal clerks across the state are reporting fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications, most of them from a nationwide community activist group working to help low- and moderate-income families. The majority of the problem applications are coming from the group ACORN, Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now ...
Florida
Oct. 13, 2007, PRNewswire
A Florida state attorney is investigating thousands of potentially fraudulent voter registrations associated with the leading organizer of Florida's Amendment 5 ballot initiative. But this is just the tip of an iceberg of illegalities, fraud and contradictions connected to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) ... Former ACORN Miami-Dade field director Mac Stuart has declared an intent to sue ACORN and has made charges of rampant voter fraud operations. Stuart was employed and specifically tasked by ACORN to generate 103,000 new voter registrations from Dade County. He reports that ACORN threw out Republican registrations while paying for Democratic ones. Stuart also charges that ACORN targeted ex-cons and that he personally set up registration tables outside the Miami police department and Dade County jail.
New Mexico
Sept. 18, 2008, Judicial Watch Blog
This week officials in New Mexico's most populous county (Bernalillo) notified federal authorities that more than 1,000 fraudulent voter registration cards were submitted to the clerk's office. ACORN, which pays workers for each registration, is the prime suspect since it has handled thousands of new voter registrations in New Mexico since January. County workers subsequently discovered that at least 1,100 new registrations list Social Security numbers for people already in the county's database of registered voters, names of registered voters with different birth dates and addresses that don't exist.Wisconsin Aug. 6, 2008, Milwaukee Journal SentinelCriminal investigations could be launched against at least six voter registration workers who tried to add dead, imprisoned or imaginary people to the voter rolls, according to the Milwaukee Election Commission and the organization that employed them. "One woman called us to complain because her husband has been dead for 10 years and a voter registration was submitted," Edman said. In about 12 cases, deputy registrars paid by ACORN were "making people up or registering people that were still in prison," said Carolyn Castore, ACORN's state political director. And in other cases, workers used the same address for numerous voters or used driver's license numbers that did not fit the voters' birth dates, Edman said. But most of the fraud involved submitting duplicate cards for voters who were already registered, and forging the voters' signatures, Castore said.
Ohio
August 27, 2008, The Plain Dealer
A national organization that conducts voter registration drives for low-income people has curtailed its push in Cuyahoga County after the Board of Elections accused its workers of submitting fraudulent registration cards. Board employees said ACORN workers often handed in the same name on a number of voter registration cards, but showing that person living at different addresses. Other times, cards had the same name listed, but a different date of birth. Still another sign of possible fraud showed a number of people living at an address that turned out to be a restaurant. ACORN has submitted about 75,000 voter registration cards to the Cuyahoga board this year.
Pennsylvania
Sept. 18, 2008, The Bulletin: Philadelphia's Family Newspaper
A community organization, with longstanding ties to Barack Obama, has, according to numerous reports, repeatedly run afoul of voter registration laws both locally and nationally. Philadelphia election officials recently accused ACORN, of filing multiple fraudulent voter registrations during the 2008 Pennsylvania primary. The case has been referred to the U.S. Attorney's office, according to Philadelphia Deputy Election Commissioner Fred Voight. Delaware County election officials have made similar allegations against the group, and criminal indictments are pending. This past July 24, Dauphin County detectives offered a $2,000 reward for information about the whereabouts of Luis R. Torres-Serrano, an ACORN worker, who was accused of submitting more than 100 fraudulent voter registrations.
Nevada
July 7,2008, Las Vegas Review Journal
ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, claims to have collected 60,000 new voter registrations in Clark County since February ... Lomax said while he supports the goal of getting more people registered to vote, he sees rampant fraud in the 2,000 to 3,000 registrations ACORN turns in every week.
SO WHAT DOES OBAMA HAVE TO DO WITH ACORN?
The answer is ... a lot. Stanley Kurtz has written another great piece about Barack Obama's days as a community organizer for ACORN. It is worth you taking the time to read. Unfortunately, I wouldn't expect any mainstream media outlets to mention this information, or put two and two together considering all of the stories just listed above.

Boortz Blast - who to blame with current financial crisis
Friday, September 19, 2008
DEMOCRATS NOT TO BLAME? NONSENSE
About Nancy Pelosi. She says the Democrats share absolutely none of the blame for the current financial goings-on. She's wrong. In fact, she's lying because she knows here statement to be untrue. I'm going to unload on this when I get back, but here's your primer:
1. Almost all of the financial problems we see today are based on bad mortgage lending. That would be lending money to people to buy homes who didn't qualify for a loan.
2. The Democrats, under Clinton, strengthened a government-created monster called the "Community Reinvestment Act." This law was then used by "activists" and "community organizers" (like Obama?) to coerce lending institutions to make these bad loans ... millions of them.
3. Now we see what happens when political "wisdom" supplants good loan underwriting. When private financial institutions are virtually forced to make loans to people with a bad credit and job history .. this is what you get. Enjoy it.
The Democrats have offered us a candidate who is very anti-private sector. Obama believes that America is great because of government and those who, like him, deride the profit motive. If Americans are stupid enough to believe his socialist drivel and put him in office .. .then we will get just what we so richly deserve. This week is just a preview.
_________________________________________________________
Next week ought to be a hoot! Oh and he didn't mention that two years ago Bush tried to get passed increased oversight regulation of Fannie & Freddie Mac because he said we are rushing toward a disaster. Well he was right. Dems (and turnfaced Republicans) knocked it down.
Who to blame?
Lipstick on a pig!
Obama claims he was not referring to Palin when he made the crack and that McCain is lying saying oh yes he was.
HOWEVER!!! When Obama said that, the crowd went nuts laughing and chanting "Palin". Did he correct them "Oh no that was not what I meant". NO he did not. He just smiled and went on with his speech.
SO, with "inference" we can conclude, he did indeed mean to refer to Palin.

Interesting, maybe not significant, but that the Republican VP Nomination has had a Libertarian working for her. Could be good for us!
Results of taking the quiz
- Had a couple of friends take the Worlds Shortest Political Quiz and say they came out pinko socialists. I think they were yanking my chain, cause I really don't think they are for the following (well, one of them maybe):
Main Entry:
2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property
b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

Email from our Party
All of the gymnastics, flips and vaults on TV this week make me think of Barack Obama and John McCain. Well, for that matter, just about EVERYTHING these days make me think of them...which I guess is normal since I'm Bob Barr's campaign manager.
Morning, noon, and night, I think of this campaign and how we can get out the word that Bob Barr is the only candidate for President who will bring real change to the way things get done in Washington. There's not a dimes worth of difference between McCain and Obama, you know it, I know it, and every special interest in Washington knows it.
That's why they are pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into their campaigns.
You and I know what they are getting in return. Access, power, government contracts, and all the things you and I stand firmly against.
Today, Bob is out campaigning hard. Barack Obama is vacationing in Hawaii confident of his victory and looking forward to his move into the White House. John McCain is somewhere trying to convince electing him isn't just a third term for George Bush.
And, I'm sitting here trying to think of how we can raise the funds to get out our first advertising in a few weeks. Although early polls show we are in a strong position to make a difference in this election, we must do much more to gain attention and win a spot in the Presidential debates.
I urgently need to raise $500,000 for broadcast advertising. There are only 84 days until the election. I realize you have been supportive in so many ways, but if you can afford to make a gift of $50, $100, $250 or even more, that would help us more than you may know.
Thanks for your consideration.

No Million in Germany for Obama???
But he did manage to tick off some Europeans by almost demanding that they "give more" in the fight on terror. Hey BUD we are not in the business of demanding help from our world neighbors!!!
What a moron.
Excuse me, I have to go analyze more of his speech, there is SO much garbage there.
Have you had a chance to look at Barr? He's gaining a lot of ground lately. Do not like how he calls our guys in Iraq "occupiers". Good thing about the Libertarian Party is that we realize as adults that it is impossible to agree with anyone 100% of the time. Voting strictly one ticket versus the other is stupid. Look at the individual.
I'll be back....

Throw away vote?
Back to Huckabee. Just way too religious for me. So what do we do? Throw away our vote?
How many times have you heard that expression? Well hell (hell is ok), if you think it's a throw away then make a statement while you are doing it. Vote for Bob Barr.
No I'm not pushing Barr, just giving you another option.
There was a time when there were no Democrats or Republicans. They were once a new party. All new changes start with that first vote that everyone else says was wasted.
Did you take the test?
Iraq
Now, how much more "MASS DESTRUCTION" do you want?
Okay, bad man gone, people there can vote, infrastructure getting back in place, and they are making some headway against the insurgents (sponsored by Iran by the way). So. We do need to start turning things over to the locals so we can get out. Not at a run!!!! As some would have us do, but with dignity and leaving behind something we can be proud of. These people in Iraq can be a very powerful friend as we sit back and watch that wacko in Iran.
Of course Israel will go in and attack them, then our problem will be convincing everyone that we had nothing to do with it!! HA. Geez, our friendship with them will drag us into yet another war.
Can someone tell me why we support them so much? Please leave religion out of it.
Oh yeah!!! Oil.

Barack has got to go!
Read for yourself:
http://online.wsj.com/public/article_print/SB121555916730437401.html
Plus do you know he wants the US to contribute $13 trillion (look closely, that's a T) to the United Nations new plan to eliminate povery world wide.
The Republicans let us down big time in the last go around but the democrats will throw us all under the bus cause that's how they get their votes. "Vote for me I'll cut your taxes", course you won't have a job.....
Keep one thing in mind people. The Government does NOT subsidize or pay anything! WE DO. Every time some politician (who does not participate in our social security program by the way) comes up with some clever benefit for us, usually those already not paying any taxes to begin with, the money has to come from somewhere. I want them out of my pocket.
