House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Sunday that Republicans have left their mark on the healthcare bill and should accept that the bill will go forward.

She claims the public option was stripped from the bill because the Republicans didn't want it. Crap, it was her own blue dog Democrats who didn't want it!!!!

Oh the delusion that exists in Washington is astounding. This November, they will be like so many deer with headlights in the eyes when they suddenly find themselves out on the streets.

Small-Bill Proposal for Sensible Health-Care Reform

To make health insurance more accessible, affordable, and portable — without increasing government control, jeopardizing the quality of care, or breaking the bank:

1. Cut costs by preventing runaway malpractice lawsuits. Relieve doctors from having to practice costly defensive medicine, by capping noneconomic and punitive damages, while continuing to allow unlimited economic damages to compensate for financial loss. (No increase in government spending. Savings: $53 billion to the federal government, and billions in additional savings to private citizens.*)

2. Cut costs by allowing Americans to buy insurance across state lines. Allow Americans to shop for coverage from coast to coast — whether from lower-mandate states at lower prices, or from higher-mandate (additional-coverage) states at higher prices. Allow plans bought in one state to be transported to another. (No increase in government spending.*)

3. Cut costs by allowing lower premiums for healthier lifestyles. Federal regulations ban companies from offering more than a 20 percent discount to those who eat and drink in moderation, exercise, or don’t smoke. Such regulations handcuff private cost-cutting efforts and should be eliminated. (No increase in government spending.*)

4. Increase access to health insurance by ending the unfair tax on the uninsured (and self-insured), giving them a tax-break similar to that which is already available to those with employer-provided insurance. Provide refundable annual tax-credits of $2,500 per person or $5,000 per family — directly to the American people, not to insurers. Leave employer-provided insurance, its tax-exempt status, and the rest of the tax code, intact. (Increase in government spending: approximately $80 billion (for credits beyond taxes paid). Reduced revenues: approximately $120 billion (for refunds of taxes paid).*)

5. Provide further help for those who are uninsured and have expensive preexisting conditions, by increasing federal support for state-run or state-organized high-risk pools. Thirty-four states already have pools to help those who can’t get affordable coverage because of expensive preexisting conditions. We should help all 50 states to establish or organize such pools. (Increase in government spending: $100 billion.*) (See ** below.)

6. Convert some federal funds into block grants to states, and reallocate the savings resulting from reducing the number of uninsured. Disproportionate Share Hospital (or DSH ("dish")) payments reimburse hospitals for treating the uninsured in emergency rooms. With fewer uninsured, some of these funds can be allocated more efficiently, helping to fund the above proposals. Start the block grants at 75% of each state’s current federal DSH funding level, reduce them by 5 percent annually until they reach 50% in year-6, and then index them to the consumer price index minus one percentage point. (No increase in government spending. Savings: approximately $180 billion.*)

7. Implement additional reforms from the House Republican health bill. Adopt regulatory reforms in the small group and non-group markets, standards for electronic administration, an abbreviated approval pathway for follow-on biological products, and HSA reforms). (Increase in government spending: $0. Savings: $20 billion.*)

My suggestion (purely facetious at the time) was to default on our foreign debt. No, didn't really think anyone would consider that.

Tea Party Movement Co-opted by Birthers/Truthers

Is the GOP trying to co-opt the Tea Party movement?

No, actually I think it's worse.

I really love the Tea Party movement, love that Americans are getting involved, getting educated. Would be great to see someone like Ron Paul be elected president. BUT the tea party people and Ron Paul all need to disavow themselves of the Truthers and Birthers. They are only going to bring down your movement. Think about how many of both groups are liberals. They have so much to gain from this continuing obsession.

I know that both groups have freedom of speech, but if they had any real evidence they need to move it from the court of public opinion to a real court. Get this settled once and for all or SHUT UP.

BUT you have to stop and think, the way the current system is set up, only one out of two parties can make it to the White House with the primary system we have. So instead of thinking the GOP is hijacking the tea party, how about the tea partiers are cleaning out the GOP and putting in people who really represent the platform.

I see it more as the birthers and truthers are the ones hijacking the tea party movement. You guys if you really want Ron Paul to win, you need to back off and disassociate yourself from him. Cause you are only doing him harm.

Neither RP nor the Libertarian Party back either one of these conspiracies. They recognize your freedom of speech but by your continued vocalization of these conspiracies alongside your support of RP you are causing him harm. Yeah he won the CPAC straw vote but did you also hear the boos? Those boos were because of the misconception that he is a Truther.

The above are snippets of arguments I've had today on Boortz and Facebook. And it's amazing how selfish the fringe group can be, cause they would rather shout their freedom of speech to the mountains than shut up for just a bit so that we can get something done.

If you have evidence, not some well crafted Alex Jones video, but REAL evidence, then by all means take it to court. Running your mouths on every board in the blogosphere does no one any good except alienating potential voters.

Road Trip

I'm off tomorrow, we're on a road trip so not sure if I'll get to check in or not. Have fun without me and think about this.

Government jobs are growing faster than private sector, and most of those are union jobs. So when Congress and the White House are looking at possible legislation, are they going to take the union contracts into consideration? We know they don't think about the constitution.

Climate Change scheme falling apart?

Looking on Drudge there are so far at least four stories, paperwork lost, scientist reversing stance.

This for instance.

Oh good! Then we can stop all this nonsense and get back to work.

Not so fast. Remember who we've been dealing with. Progressives. And they LOVE to "not let a good crisis go to waste" remember?

Now, we are supposedly on a cooling phase for the next 15 to 25 years. What does that mean? Less moisture, failed crops, more heating/fuel requirements and financial catastrophe for the poor unfortunates who can't heat their homes.

All at a time when we have NOT been working on getting our own sources of gas & oil going in the form of offshore drilling. We currently have every major producer mad at us (oh wasn't Obama supposed to fix that?), our food production has been cripled due to the manufacture of ethanol, and we alternate between printing money (inflation is coming) or borrowing.

Our current yearly payment of interest alone is over $400 billion.

WE'RE BROKE! And our Progressive leaders will not let go of this dog, they will use it as an even greater excuse to redistribute our funds (can't say wealth anymore more, there ain't none).

So nothing has really changed. If anything, this could be even worse. The family farm can wave bye-bye as they will be commandeered all for the greater good. Control over our waters will be expanded so those of us with wells can look forward to having an additional fee tacked onto our property tax bill or being forced to connect into the county/city water system. Heating fuel costs will skyrocket. But those "in need" will get subsidies to heat their homes, all thanks to the American tax payer. Or those of us who are still working...

These are just extrapolations of mine. Don't get excited Big Sis. Just talking outloud here...

Things were obviously not going the way the General had hoped. Obama could sense this, and told him, "I bet when I die, you'll pee on my grave."

The "Truthers" as they are called, have been getting louder and louder. I have been directed to a documentary, "Loose Change - Final Cut", with Alex Jones involvement, as a source of proof.

Let's see what we find. There is a Part II, you can link on that to the right after viewing this.



First thing I make note of: the disbelief of finding passports of the hijackers, how could they possibly have survived. Yet here is a link to a story on Flight 93, where many personal items are found intact, of victims, not just terrorists. Page down to the bottom. Bibles, licenses, bandanas, all found in remarkably good shape. There are others stories of found items if you care to google them. The makers of the film, seem to only focus on items found of the terrorists.

I always have to question the motivation of individuals involved in any story. For instance, Sander Hicks, quoted liberally, was also responsible for "Fortunate Son", the unauthorized autobiography of George W. Bush. Hicks participated in a caravan trip to Washington DC for the inauguration of Barack Obama. Less than credible in my mind.

The Pakistani ISI Chief who supposedly wired Atta $100,000, that story is a little more iffy. But as this story shows, the U.S. authorities DID INDEED follow up on this and pressured the government of Pakistan. Unfortunately, it looks like the culprit and any hard evidence disappeared when the ISI Chief was "sacked".

OMG, Arlen Specter investigating Able Danger? Arlen from the Warren Commission? Well, that's fishy right there. Sorry, just had to throw that in there.

Okay come one now, you expect anyone to take it seriously when you have Cynthia McKinney talking about four planes not being intercepted????? Well, for one, all those 67 times they DID intercept, the planes were on course or very close and had just lost contact. The 9/11 planes were drastically off course so they were not where any jets would have been looking.

Cynthia McKinney? I almost stopped watching on that one.

I think we can all agree that our government, military and intelligence were pretty stupid for NOT planning for this scenario better. That shows stupidity, not duplicity. Moving on.
