By the way, getting my stuff together to head out to west Texas. I have two ladies, an attorney and psychology therapist, who are joining me to shoot. Both are big time liberals/supporters. Both claim to have never fired a gun before. Both claim they want to learn and would like to purchase handguns after they try several of mine.
They are going together because they are room mates. They just had their house broken in to. I am still wondering if I should be showing liberals how to shoot a gun.

Made it back. Wow, I missed a lively chat!
Not a bad day. Took out all sorts of handguns and a few long guns. We made it through fundamental NRA safety rules, grip, trigger pull, sight picture, stance.
Then we went through 2,000 rounds of .22LR ammo with my Advantage Arms .22LR slide on the Glock frame. These ladies have never held a hand gun before. For the past 15 years the psychologist has always asked me "why do you feel you need to own a gun." Well today, she shot over 500 rounds. They paid me well and bought me dinner.
I witnessed a change in attitude. This morning, there were two liberal women out there, scared to be in their own home. Fear was turned to anger. Anger was used to focus on developing a new skill. At first fear, then through anger, their feelings of victimization were overcome as they learned they could be responsible for keeping themselves safe.
Baby steps.

After a few more rounds of .22LR ammo, I was able to get them to try the .40S&W slide on the Glock. Well, the attorney managed. They need a lot of practice. I also showed them a number of exercises to condition their wrists (yep, very limp wristed).
I let them try my Kel-Tec P3AT and the .38 revolver. Then I let them fire my AK-47, Marlin 30-30 (one of them will have a bad shoulder bruise), flint lock, and Saiga 410. A few melons were slaughtered.

The exercise with the melons was to demonstrate the terminal ballistics of the AK-47 vs other weapons. Everyone looks at the AK-47 as some bad-ass weapon, but in reality, one shot from my .50 caliber lead round ball Flint-lock with half load of black powder can cause more damage than the 7.62x39 round.
I set up two melons, front to back. The 7.62x39 round just made a hole through both. The .50 caliber lead ball blew both melons to the great nether regions. Scattered them. Even spewed chunks back on us! Think about the wound channel from this baby.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) they did not get the concept in choosing the right tool for home defense.
